Three men in the US have as much wealth as the lower 160 million. The One Percent own 93% of the US wealth. You do not hear about this in the mainstream media or from Democratic Party congressmen.
The fact is that our economy is dependent on illegal immigrants performing jobs in construction, nursing homes, restaurants and other fields. Americans will not perform stoop labor on the farms for any price.
We do not need sick people in our country, legal or illegal. That is why it is important to provide medical care for everybody. People in Europe pay about half what we pay in health care.
Democrats have been listening to consultants rather than voters.

A completely neglected topic is the One Percent and their greed. You have seen several dozen commentaries on DT and the MAGA Republicans but nothing on the One Percent. They are smart people. They see the same evidence for global warming, environmental destruction (for example, the Amazon rainforest) and poverty. There was no protest from them or the Wall Street Journal about DT’s legislation that would take food stamps away from poor families or reduce Medicare coverage while giving them a tax break. They are as attached to wealth and power as an addict to heroin.

Since the One Percent own 93% of the nation’s wealth, I propose that they pay the federal income tax for every family making less than $250,000 per year. Hire IRS agents to examine overseas accounts and elaborate tax arrangements that rich people have.
Set up a system when everybody reports their income to the IRS and then the IRS proposes a payment which will be zero for just about everybody. If you like what the IRS proposes, go ahead and make your payment. If you think this is too much, fill out a return and see if this is a lower amount.
Also, make Social Security payments income tax free.
One beneficial effect is that the One Percent will have less incentive to evade environmental and labor requirements when their net earnings are reduced.
I was a child when Ike was president and the tax burden on rich people and major corporations was much higher than it is today. Those were prosperous times.
The One Percent need a Twelve Step program to deal with their greed and contempt for the poor, the environment and future generations.
