When I was in high school and for the first three years in college, I had the idea that colonialism was beneficial to the colonists. In my fourth year in college there was criticism. In graduate school and later in life, I saw that it was exploitation.
The attached article from Aljazeera tells the world how brutal it was in India. Much is new to me but it is all consistent with other information that I have seen over the years.
