Rather than a Golden Age with DT, things are going downhill. When the Bureau of Labor Statistics, reported 73,000 in July’s job growth, DT did no analysis. He fired the director.
This is better than what it was in the Soviet Union, where the director would be shot or find herself in a concentration camp.
I studied economics in graduate school. During World War II and after the Allies made economic reforms that would ensure prosperity. There was the General Treaty on Trade and Tariffs and an effort to reduce tariffs and trade barriers. There is the European Union and numerous trade agreements. That is the way we have been doing things until DT’s second term.
With DT, it is like a local crime boss who knows how to run a school, factory or grocery store better than the people who have been doing this for many decades.
Trade agreements are win-win arrangements. What DT is doing is giving uncertainty with arbitrary measures that are half-baked at best.
