Beautiful Places In and Near Atchison – Ed O’Rourke

I was a student in Atchison in 1962-1963.  My first trip back was in October, 1980 for a few hours. In In October, 1983, I started returning and staying 4 or 5 days at a time.

Atchison and the nearby area is especially pretty.

MO -45 Railroad Bridge Sept 2023 The highway from Weston to Atchison. I did not pay attention when I was a student.  In October, 1983, I was struck by the amazing beauty and have been impressed even since.

Riverside Drive  This is in south Atchison.

This building was the first abbey. In 1962-1963, it was Freshman Hall.  I lived on the third floor.

The Y Intersection leaving Atchison going east. Turn to the left and you go to St. Joseph. Turn to the right and you go to Weston. From this angle, the highway looks like a Y.  With some imagination, you can see the Y. Highway 59 meets 45 and 273.
