I revised the War Abolition Encyclical and made a political statement that people in the Green Party, the Democratic Party and independents would like. Democrats attempt to limit DT’s damage and offer no vision. The vision that I offer here covers the waterfront.
I show the add-ons from the war abolition encyclical here. The first one is one that you will see nowhere else. NOWHERE.Sincerely,
Ed
Disaster Recovery for Our Entire Planet
There are floods, droughts, hurricanes, wars and other tragedies causing property and human loss. I propose a type of insurance coverage for every man, woman and child. The United Nations would have the funds, equipment and manpower to respond to natural disasters and wars everywhere. The rich countries would have warehouses with food, water, clothes, medicine and tents ready to move to afflicted areas in rich or poor countries. They would also have resources to rebuild homes and infrastructure. The world’s armed forces would be trained to provide logistics and security. Soldiers would attend foreign language classes to learn the language, culture and history of other countries.
Taxpayer funds would pay for this. They will do the heavy lifting. Charities would still be necessary because no single government or governmental can cover everything.

Maybe tomorrow
When he looks down
On every green field (ooh, ooh)
And every town
All of his children
And every nation
There’ll be peace and good brotherhood

Maritime Conservancies
Designate ocean areas where no fishing, whaling, petroleum drilling or mining is allowed.
The Steady State Economy
Make products last like the General Electric refrigerators that would work for 30 years. Make products returnable like what we used to with Coke bottles. Place an environmental (excise) tax on petroleum and mining. Capitalism has been stable only when the economy is growing. A steady state economy will take more effort to monitor. With a guaranteed annual income there will be no homeless people and no poverty. Making rich individuals and major corporations pay taxes like they did when Ike was president. There will be sources for all the social programs that anyone can imagine.
A Balanced Federal Budget
When I was a teenager, William F Buckley and Senator Barry Goldwater were my heroes. I have changed much since the early 1960s. However, some conservative ideas make even more sense today. Do what we did with closing the domestic military bases. Write income tax legislation that rewards work over investment and places high tax rates on the truly rich. Vote on the entire package yes or no with no amendments.
Starting with President Reagan, the Republican Party has forgotten what a balanced budget is when they are in power, like now. When the Democrats are in power, they talk about a balanced budget anytime they want to cut a social program and justify tax cuts for the rich because they allege this is job creation.
Subsidize Education After High School
Before Ronald Reagan was president, tuition in public universities was almost free. With President Reagan, Republicans reduced funding in the state legislatures.
In Europe, tuition is free in most universities. Make it easy for someone to be a master mechanic, gourmet cook, computer expert, doctor or anything else. Subsidize these efforts.
Treatment for Drugs Addicts and People in Hopeless Situations
Make treatment centers free.
Offer counselling, shelter and money for people who are unemployed, for battered spouses and anybody else enduring a crisis. We all look for help from family and churches.
Help the Ninety Nine Percent like we have been helping the One Percent. Offer a safe haven for everyone on the planet.
The Absolute Solution for the Illegal Immigration Flow
Abolish poverty everywhere in the world. This will solve our border difficulties on the cheap. No ineffective walls. How many people will cross the deserts in northern Mexico or traverse the Mediterranean in unseaworthy ships when they have good jobs at home?
The 1859 Carrington Event
A sunburst in 1859 fried the electric equipment that existed in those days. A sunburst could occur anytime. Let us protect the world’s electric infrastructure.
The 1815 Volcanic Eruption
This volcanic eruption in what is now Indonesia made 1815 the year without a summer. Such an occurrence today would bring famines everywhere. Fund engineering studies that would show us how to capture most soot from any eruption. Start building equipment that would capture what is possible.
Asteroid Protection
A large asteroid impact would wipe out our civilization. Humans will join dinosaurs. Fund NASA, ESA and everybody else to identify asteroids when they are still a long way out. Design rockets to divert their path to miss us.
Ethics Class in Business School
Every business school offers a compulsory ethics course. The course is oriented to cash register honesty. Offer a course that shows how the poor and working poor live in the developed and underdeveloped countries. This will show how meager welfare distribution is especially compared to the favorable tax structure for rich individuals and major corporations.
Encourage travel to other places in the United States and other countries. I was born in 1944 in Houston, a racist society although it felt entirely normal at that time. In September, 1962, I started my freshman year at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas and got a shock. For the first time in my life I was studying with black students. Within three weeks I was a changed person. I tried not to show it when I came home for Christmas but I was ineffective. My family and friends figured it out fast.
In 1964, I read John Howard Griffin’s classic Black Like Me and got a bigger shock. Previously, I considered my behavior as uncouth. Now I realized it was barbaric.
In a similar way Barbara Ehrenreich studied the working poor by working as a waitress, a Walmart employee and other low wage jobs. See her book, Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America. It was a rough experience. See what life is like for people living from paycheck to paycheck.
From hearing Congressman Tim Burchett from Tennessee criticize USAID efforts, I saw that he never worked in an underdeveloped country. It was obvious that he had no one on his staff or in his social circle had this experience either. It is a sign that our Congress is designed to help the One Percent and everybody else gets the crumbs that fall off the table.
Make this a required ethics course for everybody to get a college degree or to get a license to be a plumber, real estate agent, certified public accountant or anything else. Make this course a requirement for anyone who get more than $1,000,000 in tax deductions. Ask everyone is a candidate for any office to take the course and obtain a passing grade.
The textbook would have readings from Viktor Frankl, Barbara Ehrenreich, John Howard Griffin and others. There are numerous YouTube presentations that show how the non-rich live.
Global Warming
For those who reject what the climate scientists have been proving for decades, look at the world’s glaciers in 1900 and look at them now. See Arctic Ocean NASA photos in summer, 1970 and see the Arctic Ocean in summer, 2025.
