On June 6, 1944, Mother was waiting at South Shepherd and West Alabama for her ride to the defense plant. Then, the extras were out on the street. The Allied had landed in Normandy. Everyone realized that the war entered a new phase. The Allies started the offensive that would end the war in Europe.
I propose that Memorial Day be changed to the Monday closest to June 6.
