To achieve the seemingly impossible, you must first be unafraid to dream the seemingly impossible.
Vaclav Havel
I recommend buying Jerry Kroth’s book. Start with chapter 8, the summary. He talks about global warming, ETs, crop circles, the 1859 Carrington event and more. Our civilization is heading for total collapse.
The crop circle discussion can get tedious in a hurry. When this happens, skip to the next chapter.
There is much hoopla about wind farms, electric cars and alternative energy but the carbon dioxide and methane concentrations are rising every year.
In 1859, a sun burst fried the telegraph lines. Another similar sun burst would wipe out our electric system everywhere. This is known as the Carrington event. We need protection. See a detailed explanation in the book.
Our country consumes more drugs than illegal drugs than anybody else. We have more people in prison than anybody else.
We have a personality cult for DT, a convicted rapist and white collar criminal. The people who follow him are in it for cultural issues, the immigrants, the gays, the black people and abortion. Money does not seem to matter. When DT left office, we had fewer people employed than when his term started, the first time since Herbert Hoover. He added nine trillion dollars to the national debt, largely by giving tax cuts to billionaires. They do not seem to mind. When you talk to a DT supporter, you are entering a fact-free zone and an ethics-free zone.
The pattern is that Republicans drive the country to a depression or recession and a Democratic president leads the country to recovery. We saw this with Herbert Hoover, George Bush the father, George Bush the son and DT. However, 60% say the Republicans run the economy better. This makes no sense but there it is.
I was born in Houston in 1944. As a teenager and young adult, William F Buckley and Senator Barry Goldwater were my heroes. They wanted to deter Russian aggression and present a balanced budget. Although I have been a liberal for many decades, I still like both ideas that the Republican Party has now rejected.
In 2007, I bought this book by David Shipler but got depressed after 25 pages. I saw in a study made by two political scientists that stated that the lower 70% on the socioeconomic scale have no perceptible influence on political decisions in the US.
The One Percent are magicians. They have made their enormous wealth and influence invisible in the public realm. They are addicted to wealth and power that is more embracing than heroin. DT supporters would stop a bullet to protect their idol who has given tax cuts and benefits to the One Percent, leaving crumbs off the table for everybody else.
A partial answer is to revise the tax code and make rich people and major corporations pay like they did when Eisenhower was president. President Biden is making a modest proposal now.
These are tough times. I remember spring, 1942, when the Axis Powers were advancing on every front. The beleaguered Allies did not lose heart. They started achieving significant defensive military victories at Midway, El Alamein, Stalingrad and Guadalcanal. In February, 1943, it was a long way from Guadalcanal to Tokyo and Stalingrad to Berlin but they had to start from somewhere.
The good news is that millions are advocating climate change reversal, ending poverty and abolishing war. Pope Francis, Al Gore and Greta Thunberg are drawing attention.
War is normal. For some it is beneficial. The Redemptorist Church at Broadway and 33rd street in Kansas City, Missouri, offered a prayer service in 1945. A lady walking by remarked to a priest, ‘’ Listen to those fools praying for peace. We have never had it so good.’’
May the US Congress reduce our nuclear weapons to 1,000 and our overseas military bases to 100. Start with simple steps and go from there.
Abolish poverty. Reduce the bloated Pentagon budget. Reverse global warming. The fine tuning will follow.
