The New York Times is running a series showing how dangerous nuclear weapons are and recommending remedies. This is a good time to get attention.
Please see my letter to Congressman Al Green where I outlined what is wrong and how to fix things.
The letter to Congressman Green:
Recent articles in the New York Times call for a new look at US nuclear weapons strategy. See this one:
1 Person, 1 Button, 15 Minutes: Absolute Authority to End the World
Please ask the Pentagon and the think tanks to assess the following reforms:
1) Keep 1,000 nuclear weapons. Decommission the rest.
2) Adopt a No First Strike strategy.
3) Limit the president’s ability to unilaterally start a nuclear war.
4) Declare a moratorium on all nuclear weapons research.
5) Start taking missiles off ‘’ hair trigger’’ alert.
I attached my thoughts that give details to the above proposals.
I will follow up with a call to your Washington office on Wednesday, March 15, 2024.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Edward T. O’Rourke, Jr.
