The US government has maintained a major coverup operation for many decades on the UAPs (formerly UFOs). They have used ridicule and intimidation. This operation has been unraveling in recent years.
The UAP Congressional hearing on July 26, 2023 was historic. There is public recognition that there are flying objects that outperform any aircraft in the American armed forces or anybody else´s.
Ross Coulthart, an Australian journalist, has been a major mover in efforts to remove the secrecy veil.
The usual excuse for secrecy is to avoid panic. Since half the population thinks that the ETs have been visiting for many decades and that the government has been lying, I see no panic when there is formal recognition. In fact, it may be old hat since people have been talking about this for so long.
