This is the e-mail that I sent to Senator John Cornyn a few minutes ago.

Global warming is now on steroids. There is no going back. I am hoping that President Biden and the Congress will declare a national emergency. May the Republican Party, United Nations, Wall Street, Pope Francis, the European Union and everybody start making transformations in our economic, political and social lives.

We have done this before during World War Two when the US churned out the arsenal which drove us to Allied victory over the Axis Powers.

I ask for a Second Marshall Plan to reverse global warming and eliminate poverty. Put people to work for forestation projects, land conservation and water harvesting. There is money. In the US, three men have as much wealth as 160 million. Tax the rich individuals and major corporations as we did when Eisenhower was president.

Take a hard look at the federal expenditures and see what we can get along without. The Soviet Union closed its doors on December 26, 1991 but you would not know this from looking at the Pentagon budget.

The US has 5,500 nuclear warheads. Since a nuclear war between India and Pakistan is enough to induce global warming, I propose decommissioning 4,500 warheads and keep 1,000 for deterrence and wandering asteroids.

The US has 750 military bases overseas. Keep 100 and close the rest.
