I have seen many references to the Carrington Event which fried the telegraph lines on September 1-2, 1859. A similar event today would destroy all our electric equipment ending the electrical grid, refrigeration, heating, lights, the Internet, our cell phones and our satellites.

I recommend federal regulation for ourselves and subsidies for the underdeveloped countries to protect the electrical grid everywhere.
