Re: Braeswood Native Plant Garden preparing to bloom

South Braeswood

When we moved to South Braeswood in spring 1958, there was one tree in the front yard and only bushes in the back yard.  Over the years, we and other families planted small trees that have grown.

At noon time in the summer, there was hardly a shadow in the back yard.  Those who saw the Lawrence of Arabia movie saw something similar.

Sincerely,

Ed

Note: when the O’Rourke family moved here in the 1950’s, Braeswood was a new subdivision built on a rice farm on the coastal prairie where there were virtually no trees. Today it looks like its name: Bray’s Wood – please come see it and the pocket prairie across the street on the banks of Bray’s Bayou.Photo: Nivien Saleh
