Excessive Military Budget Featured in the Mainstream Press – Ed O’Rourke

Until today, the only place where I have seen anybody talk about the bloated US military budget has been on left-wing websites.  Finally, this commentary appeared in today’s NY Times.  See an excerpt here:

In 2020 the U.S. military’s budget accounted for almost 40 percent of the world’s military expenditures. This level of spending has long been excessive, but after a pandemic that has claimed the lives of more Americans than any war we fought, continuing to throw money at the military is an act of willful disregard for the most urgent threats we face.

I am surprised that environmentalists have been idle.  After all, the military establishment has a huge unnecessary footprint.

I invite you to read the commentary and pass it around.
