The Colombian government kills, wounds and torture unarmed protestors and then gives sermons about illegal road blockage by protestors.
The national police and Colombian military have militarized major cities. As a result of the repression, 52 civilians have been killed, 548 have been disappeared, 15 people have been subjected to sexual violence, and 38 protestors have received intentional eye injuries. The city of Cali has accounted for 35 of the 52 people killed nationwide. Most of the victims are young adults between the ages of 18 and 36 years old.
The banks have closed some branches and laid off employees. Lines are long at the banks. Rather than helping people, the government allows the banks to abuse their customers.
I am a retired certified public accountant. My wife have been living in Medellin since 2008, when we retired. My Houston address is in precinct 224 on South Braeswood.
I urge President Biden and the Congress to cut off all military and police aid to Colombia.
